FRIENDS OF DEL MAR MESA PROJECTS

DEL MAR MESA ROAD PUBLIC TRAIL IMPROVEMENT FUND

Friends of Del Mar Mesa is exploring bringing reclaimed water to serve the public trail right-of-way for enhancement and maintenance of the landscaping and trail along Del Mar Mesa Road. Phase 1 would be the lower section and community entrance.

INVASIVE PLANT ERRADICATION

Invasive plants, such as the ubiquitous Pampas Grass, are non-native plants that spread easily into preserves. They crowd out native plants and trees that provide shelter and food for wildlife. Seeds spread easily via wind and storm water.

Homeowners are encouraged to permanently remove Pampas Grass from private property. POPs, Inc is funding a licensed eradication service for Del Mar Mesa Preserve.

COMMUNITY PARK

Facilities include a horse rest stop, basketball court, restrooms, parking, tot lot and open use grass field, consistent with the semi-rural ambiance of Del Mar Mesa with landscaping largely native.

The Friends of Del Mar Mesa will fund amenities beyond those provided by the City Parks Department, which can include enhanced landscaping.

DEL MAR MESA/CARMEL VALLEY TRAIL MAINTENANCE & ENHANCEMENT FUND

A pledged donation from Manchester Resorts for trail maintenance in Carmel Valley and Del Mar Mesa administered by the Friends of Del Mar Mesa created this fund. A joint committee from both communities will oversee projects once fully funded.
